Each month the UK magazine Practical Wireless has a column called Valve and Vintage. I contribute to the column every three months, and I mainly feature valve equipment from 1945 onwards, and simple valve projects. If you really want to E-mail me then use 'phil-at-g4jcp-dot-freeserve.co.uk'. Sorry, anti-spam and all.
If you want to tell me how awful this site is, don't bother. I already know. What is here is a much-reduced version of what was once at www.valveandvintage.co.uk. If you've not been here before, please read my disclaimers below. Go on, it won't hurt you.
From here you can jump to -
I used to have a load of links here, but as sites come and go so fast, it was never up to date. So I'm not going to list any links. Google and the other search engines will usually find anything you want.
Disclaimers
These pages contain no Java, frames, sounds, silly animated GIFs or
anything else that wastes bandwidth, increases download time and obscures
the paltry information content of this site. Your latest installation of
Netscape 9 or Microsoft's wotsit 6 is totally wasted here.
In fact, you can even browse these pages with nothing more advanced than
a brain and a text editor. Notepad or Vi you should have.........
They have been optimised (optimised! that's a laugh) for an 800 x 600 pixel screen size. But quite honestly, use whatever screen resolution you want. At least you don't need a huge monitor and mega-pixel resolution because most of the screen is being taken up by useless frames and silly graphics.
I realise these pages are less than pretty. In fact, they're downright dull. But they load fast and can, in most cases, be browsed successfully by people with visual impairments. Also, if the information you're looking for isn't here, then you won't have wasted much time waiting for these pages to load.
All the stuff here is copyright unless it isn't in which case the text will have told you otherwise. Okay, so some photographs/images might have been ripped-off. That's all I'm saying
All trademarks and such like are acknowledged, even the incredibly stupid ones. If I were boss of a company that used such a crass trademark as 'where do you want to go today' I'd be extremely rich. I think it's stupid and I'm broke. Shows how in-tune with the world I am.
But seriously, the information given in these pages is believed to be correct. However, I cannot guarantee it and I cannot accept legal responsibility for it. Also, as valves use high voltages you should make yourself aware of the dangers before you begin playing with valve equipment. So, put bluntly, you are on your own. It's your risk. Don't blame me if you fall down a flight of stairs after reading this. You should look where you're going. I can't be behind you all the time to catch you when............. And it's no good suing me, I haven't got any money.
